With the utmost of respect to the current situation we are all facing, we wanted to send a message to just let you know that here at Plumb Tomatoes we can offer our support for the management of water systems within mothballed and decommissioned buildings. In these unprecedented times it is important to remain compliant under the Health and Safety Executive’s (4th edition) Approved Code of Practice L8 2013.

There is potential for multiple outbreaks of Legionnaires’ disease following the COVID-19 outbreak if actions taken now are not carefully considered. It is essential that when buildings reopen following the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, that any water system is not simply put straight back into use. During the period of shutdown, it would be sensible to formulate a recommissioning plan for each water system to allow safe start-up and assurance to users and duty holders that it is safe to do so.

Plumb Tomatoes can provide recommissioning plans, building management plans that will keep the clients duty holders compliant with all UK legislation and minimise the risk of stagnation occurring. Assist where required with delivering these plans to maintain wholesome water within the client’s premises, and Issue certification on completion of hand over.

Our laboratory testing samples has not been affected by COVID-19 outbreak for staffing levels, but are getting inundated with demand to test samples so we suggest you do not wait until after restrictions are lifted.
